Since Hurricane Katrina, New Orleans has lacked municipal curbside recycling service. Limited drop off options are available, but it is inefficient for individuals to bring material versus a single truck making the trip on their behalf. It diminishes the impact of recycling the material. Phoenix Recycling offers a fee-based service. People ask "why are you are charging me to collect material that you will sell?" While there is value in the material, there is more cost in processing - we actually pay to drop off the material. We pay fair wages and vacation benefits to our employees, we carry all required insurance and comply with all local, State and Federal licensing requirements.
