In Louisiana we are lucky to have the best wind and solar incentives in the nation. State tax credits are available for 50% of the first $25,000 of the cost of each system, for up to 100% of a home's energy needs. Additionally, these improvements are exempt from state property taxes. This applies to solar hot water for home and pools, solar space heating, photovoltaics, and wind power. One of the most exciting aspects of this program is the ability for any person or business to take advantage of the tax credits, opening up many additional installation and financing options to the consumer. The credit is refundable as well, so if the credit exceeds your tax burden, you get refunded the difference! |
